Pagosa Lakes is located in the San Juan Mountain Range in the Southern Rocky Mountains of Colorado and consists of approximately 14,000 acres (twenty one square miles) of scenic rolling terrain. This planned community in Archuleta County, west of the Town of Pagosa Springs, consists of 27 separate subdivisions plus numerous condominium and timeshare properties. If incorporated, Pagosa Lakes would be the third largest community in southwestern Colorado.
Five man made lakes form the core of Pagosa Lakes. Property owners and guests fish for trout, bass and perch. The Pagosa Springs Golf Club, a twenty seven hole championship course, meanders through the lower lakes area. Trails are now being implemented throughout the area to provide walking, biking and jogging paths. The Village Center forms the core area for shopping with a supermarket, gas stations, fast food and fine dining restaurants, veterinary services, bookstore, liquor store and gift shops. The Pagosa Springs Medical Center is located in the center of Pagosa Lakes.
It has been said that Pagosa Springs represents the best of Colorado. No other area in Colorado offers the diversity of activities available to it's residents and guests. Name an outdoor activity, and it is available here. Fishing in our lakes or on the San Juan River, hiking and mountain climbing in the 3 million acres of National Forest that surrounds the Pagosa area, or skiing the deep Colorado powder at the nearby Wolf Creek Ski Area can all be accomplished in the same day! Throw in a quick round of golf or a game of tennis, and then soak in the healing waters of the Great Pagosa Hot Spring - one of the largest and hottest in the world. The Ute Indians named the spring "Pag-Osah", a place of peace and healing.
If indoor activities are more to your liking, our 17,000 sq. ft. recreation and fitness center will accommodate just about any fitness regimen, and our clubhouse is a multi-use facility used for meetings, lectures, dance classes, performing arts and more.
Reasonable day trips can be made to the archeological sites of Chimney Rock, Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon. The Sky Ute Casino and Resort is just 45 minutes away. Navajo Lake State Park is only 30 minutes away, and has over 150 miles of shoreline bordering the 35 mile long lake. Pagosa Lakes is convenient to many other interesting areas such as: Taos (2 hours), Santa Fe (3 hours), Albuquerque (4 hours), Phoenix and Scottsdale (8 hours), Durango (1 hour), Mesa Verde (2 hours), Denver (5 hours) and many other areas within a day's drive.
